THIS WEEK'S LESSON:
Everything we want is right at our fingertips. All we have to do is ask!

Unfortunately, for some it's not quite that simple - if it were we'd all be living abundant, fulfilled lives. We'd all be floating around on Cloud Nine, happy as we could possibly be. So, what's holding us back? What's stopping us from living the lives we desire? Is it our jobs? Our parents? Our spouses? We could point fingers all day long at the people in our lives who are not allowing us to do what we really want to do, who are keeping us from our dreams...but they're not really the problem. The truth is WE are the problem. The most challenging obstacle to overcome in our journey to successful living is ourselves. We are our own worst enemy.

THERE ARE FIVE MAIN REASONS
WHY WE DON'T ASK FOR WHAT WE WANT:

1. Ignorance
2. Limiting and Inaccurate Beliefs
3. Fear
4. Pride
5. Low Self-Esteem

This week we're going to focus on recognizing low self-esteem and the process of overcoming that barrier.

Do you want to bring home $50 million a year? Do you want to live in your dream home? Do you want to have a relationship with someone who is kind, thoughtful and adoring? Do you want to work in an environment with people who love and respect you? Of course you do...no one would want anything less.

BUT THE REAL QUESTION IS...
DO YOU THINK YOU DESERVE ALL OF THESE THINGS?

At first you may think that you absolutely deserve these things and much, much more. But deep down...REALLY deep down...do you believe that all of these things should be yours? Your boss may praise you, your spouse and friends may profess their love for you...but unless YOU truly believe you deserve the best in life, none of it matters.

How do you change your self-image? Start by consciously listening to what you tell yourself during your daily routine. When you make a mistake do you say to yourself, "Oh, I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have done that. I always do stupid things"? This way of thinking wires you to believe that you ARE stupid and that you ALWAYS do stupid things. This belief sinks into your subconscious and soon becomes a part of your mental self-image. This is dangerous to your well-being and to your life because your mental self-image is projected through you into the world around you. Others see you as you see yourself.

The good news is that we can change - we can become our own best friend and greatest ally. How do we do make this happen? By changing the way we think about ourselves and believing that we deserve the best life possible.

Recognizing and stopping negative self-talk when it enters your mind is not enough. You must replace the negative with positive self-talk. Why? Because the Universe abhors a vacuum. If you create a void by getting rid of the negative self-talk and do not replace it with something positive - the Universe will replace it with something, anything, even more negativity. So, you must substitute a positive for the negative so that you are in control of what fills that empty space.

THIS WEEK'S ACTION STEP

In closing this week, I'd like to offer one simple exercise from the ALADDIN FACTOR that I'd like you to complete in the week ahead:

1.> Sit back and relax for a few minutes. Close your eyes and think back to times in your life when you really wanted something but didn't ask. Maybe you wanted to try out for a sports team in high school or college. Perhaps you wanted to go on a romantic trip with your significant other. Maybe you just wanted the last chicken leg at dinner. But there was something that held you back from trying out for the team, suggesting the trip or asking for the drumstick. What was that one thing that held you back? Was it a feeling of unworthiness? Did you believe that your needs were not as important as others? Or was it the fear of rejection?

2.> Now, bring those scenes back to life in 3-D Technicolor. Start from the beginning and see yourself NOT backing down. See yourself trying out for that team and making it! See yourself asking your significant other to go on that trip, and then see yourself having a great time! Rewinding the past and working through it with confidence will help you to have more faith in yourself and your abilities.

You deserve to have the best in life. But you have to believe it to achieve it!
