FireSilicone-EMA: Flexible, High-Performance Fire & Gap Sealant for Modern Builds
FireSilicone-EMA™ delivers trusted fire protection with flexibility and weather resistance for sealing joints, metallic service penetrations and linear gaps in both new builds and retrofit work. It’s a single-component silicone designed to perform where fire, smoke, acoustics or flexibility matter.
What Makes FireSilicone-EMA™ Work
- Up to 4 hours fire protection — FireSilicone-EMA is fire-rated for up to four hours, and offers systems for both horizontal and vertical installations, when used as per the certifiction reports.
- Large joint capacity — Capable of sealing joints and gaps up to 100 mm wide with appropriate backing materials. Ideal for expansion joints, metallic service penetrations in external environments or wet areas.
- High flexibility and movement tolerance — The sealant handles joint and substrate movement (approx ± 25%) without cracking or losing seal integrity.
- Sound and smoke sealing — Provides acoustic isolation and prevents smoke or gas passage, useful for exterior walls such as factories or warehouses.
- All-weather and durable — Designed to be weather-resistant, waterproof when cured, and suitable for both internal and external joints or penetrations.
- Wide substrate compatibility — Adheres strongly to both porous and non-porous materials such as concrete, masonry or blockwork.
Where FireSilicone-EMA Excels
FireSilicone-EMA™ is ideal in a wide range of applications across commercial, residential and industrial developments:
- Expansion and contraction joints in concrete slabs or external walls
- Curtain walling perimeter seals and glazing joint-sealing
- Door frame perimeters and fire-rated door installations
- Concrete, blockwork, masonry or fire rated plasterboard service penetrations
- Service penetrations including cables, or steel, copper & iron pipes
- Linear gaps that require movement or flexibility
- Seismic airtight smoke seal on FyreBox™
It performs whether sealing internal partitions or exterior joints exposed to weather.
Simple Installation Workflow
- Prepare all joint surfaces — clean, dry, free of dust, grease or contamination.
- Use a backing rod or other suitable backing material in accordance with the tested system.
- Apply FireSilicone-EMA™ with a caulking gun into the joint to the appropriate depth and width.
- Tool the sealant to a smooth finish.
- Ensure minimum sealant depth (as per tested system. — Some joints offer as low as 5 mm depth.
- Once cured, the seal is flexible, durable and ready to perform under fire or environmental stress.
The one-part, neutral-cure silicone is easy to apply and offers a cost effective solution.
FAQ
Q: Can it seal wide joints or gaps?
A: Yes. It is approved for joint and gap widths up to 100 mm wide with appropriate tested backing materials.
Q: Does it offer weather resistance for external use?
A: Yes. FireSilicone-EMA™ is weatherproof, UV resistant and suitable for both internal and external applications.
Q: Will it accept movement without failing?
A: Yes. The sealant remains flexible and accommodates joint movement of approximately ± 25%.
Q: Can it seal both metal pipes and cables?
A: Yes. It carries test approvals for steel, copper & iron pipes along with varies cable penetrations, often requiring a thermal wrap. Check the appropriate test and assessment reports for further information on the tested systems.
Q: Is it suitable for fire-rated penetrations?
A: Yes. It carries test approvals for steel, copper & iron pipes along with varies cable penetrations, often requiring a thermal wrap. Check the appropriate test and assessment reports for further information on the tested systems.
